Your Health and Vaccinations
Ensure you consult both your doctor and the national health authority to obtain the most current and accurate information regarding vaccination and medication requirements for traveling to Tanzania.
Check the website of the Tanzanian Ministry of Health for the latest health advisories.
Food
If you have any dietary restrictions or preferences, consider bringing some snacks for the journey.
Please let us know any dietary restrictions, allergies, or special meal preferences at the time of booking the safari so that we can coordinate with our accommodation partners to ensure you have the appropriate meals. Certain remote or restricted areas will need to prepare specialized meals in advance.
Medical Kit
Remember to pack a basic medical kit containing essential medications, band-aids, antiseptic cream, and any necessary prescription medicines for your trip.
If you have a severe allergy or medical condition, it is crucial to consult your doctor before traveling to Tanzania to ensure the feasibility of your trip. Additionally, bring all the medications required for emergency treatment, as hospitals may be far apart, and medical supplies limited in many areas of the country.
Travel Documents
Make photocopies or digital scans of your passport, visa, travel insurance, and other essential documents. Store them separately from the originals in case of loss or theft.

Double-check your flight details, including departure and arrival times.
Travel Insurance
Purchase comprehensive travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, repatriation, trip cancellations, lost or stolen goods, flight delays, and other unforeseen incidents.

Note down the contact information of your country's embassy or consulate in Tanzania and any emergency contact numbers.
Cash and Cards
Your credit/debit cards - notify your bank about your travel plans.
Ensure you have some foreign currency (USD recommended) on hand for initial expenses. Especially on your arrival at the airport if you are planning on paying for your VISA on arrival and to cover tips (see tipping guidelines here).

Familiarize yourself with the Tanzanian currency (Tanzanian Shilling - TZS)

Tanzania uses Type D and Type G electrical outlets. Bring the appropriate adapters to charge your devices. Operating on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
Luggage
Pack light, and use a sturdy and secure luggage bag to avoid any inconvenience during your travel.
Travel Locks and Secure Valuables
Use TSA-approved locks to secure your luggage.
Do not include valuables in your check-in luggage. Place all items of value in your hand luggage.
